The United States has advised its citizens to reconsider travel to Kenya because of health risks, including Ebola.
The October 19 advisory downgrades Kenya from Level 2 to Level 3, citing risks including Ebola, crime, kidnapping, terrorism, civil unrest, and road safety.
America has warned its citizens against visiting some areas in Kenya such as Eastleigh and Kibera in Nairobi and some parts of several counties, which have been identified by the US as Level 4.
According to Kenyan health officials, there is no proof that the illness is spreading throughout the population, and those who could have been exposed are under observation.
With containment measures in place, the Ministry of Health maintains that the general risk to the public is still minimal.
The revised advisory is part of Kenya’s efforts to reassure citizens and foreign guests over public health and security.
Kenya’s first case involved a 40-year-old Kenyan man who travelled from Congo through Uganda, arriving in Kenya on Oct. 3.
