Kenyan cult leader Paul Mackenzie found guilty of killing 191 people in Shakahola

A Mombasa court in Kenya court has found the Shakahola cult leader Paul Mackenzie and about 30 others guilty of murder for 190 people majority of them children in a land mark ruling read by Justice Diana Mochache on Monday 19th October.

Justice Mochache, in her ruling, stated that Mackenzie instructed his cult members to starve their children to death to “meet Jesus.” His teachings prohibited education and labeled modern medicine as “evil.”

Additionally, twenty-eight other cult leaders were found guilty of murder. Despite their repeated claims of innocence, they insisted that no one was coerced into dying.

During her eight-hour judgment in Mombasa, Justice Diana Mochache noted that Mackenzie’s followers regarded him as “Jesus’s mouthpiece.”

One co-defendant revealed that Mackenzie had instructed his followers that those who “resisted the directive to fast should be forced to go to heaven through kicks and blows.”
