Tanzania’s High Court has sentenced opposition leader Tundu Lissu to four years in prison after convicting him of incitement.
The ruling on Friday by a Dar es Salaam High Court follows a change in the charges against the opposition outfit Chama Cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (CHADEMA) chairman, who had initially faced treason charges.
The ruling brings to an end a case that lasted several months in court.
Lissu had spent about 577 days in pretrial detention since his arrest in April 2025.
